Have you ever heard the joke about the rain fighting with fire and fire won?

Krosfyah, that is. And the showers that came were no match for the crowd that attended the band’s second pop up party at the Screw Dock in The City on Monday night.

Face down, umbrellas up and they still jammed to the sweet sounds of calypso.

The show opened with the L&S band, which featured Leadpipe and Saddis on lead vocals. They treated the crowd to Condense and Ah Feeling before backing the likes of Miguel, Statement, Maloney, Jus D, Nikita, Shaquille, Marzville, Marvay, Hypasounds, as well as newly crowned Party Monarch Mikey.

But if Mikey thought that one song was enough, he was wrong. He returned to the stage as the audience chanted “aye, aye, aye”.

Krosfyah closed the show and they truly are like fine wine. Lead vocalist Edwin was awesome as he took fans through history with his rendition of some of their most requested songs. Indeed, there are many, yet those high on the spirit of Crop Over seemingly couldn’t get enough, dancing and singing even as daybreak approached.

It was fitting that krosfyah brought the curtain down with a special appearance from the Grass Skirt Posse, which also featured Mikey. (SDB Media)
