iWeb is calypso king again

IAN IWEB WEBSTER is the 2017 Courtesy/Mount Gay Pic-O-De-Crop calypso monarch of Barbados. With second to fifth already announced, a buzz went across the 3Ws Amphitheatre at Kensington Oval where a sizeable crowd had remained to hear the results around 2 a.m.

With second to fifth already announced, a buzz went across the 3Ws Amphitheatre at Kensington Oval where a sizeable crowd had remained to hear the results around 2 a.m.

Webster totalled 108 value points to claim his third crown, following wins in 2013 and 2014.

Edwin Yearwood was second with 100 points, earning a cheque for $20 000 and a trip on JetBlue to New York.

Third place went to Donella with 89 points. Her prize comprised $15 000 and a trip to any LIAT destination.

Chrystal was fourth and Smokey Burke fifth with 68 and 63 value points, respectively.

In a post-announcement interview, Webster said he learnt from the likes of Edwin and The Mighty Gabby.

Among his list of prizes include a Nissan X-Trail valued at $125 000 with a year’s fully comprehensive insurance from Co-Operator’s General; a cheque for $12 500; a trip to New York on JetBlue, staycations at Divi Southwinds and The Club; shoes, clothing and a bottle of Mount Gay 1703 special edition.
