One party-hearty patron will benefit from the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) and the private event promoters working together this Crop Over.
If the individual can show he or she attended every Crop Over event, they are in line to win a prize trip to a carnival destination of their choice.
NCF’s chief executive officer Carol Roberts-Reifer made the announcement on Thursday night during a mix and mingle for the promoters, DJs, brand managers, business executives, influencers and the media at Sweetfield Manor.
“The days of all the events lined up side by side and all of us forcing patrons to decide which one you will go to, I challenge you, are over. We’re going to line up one behind each other, event by event, and we’re going to challenge patrons if wunna got de stamina, start with Illuminate by King Bubba if that is one of the first ones, and follow us all the way down to Grand Kadooment Day and attend every single event, as many events as you can. It is not an NCF event, it’s not a private promoter event, it’s a Crop Over event.
“And to put our mouth where our money is, tonight we launch a promotion that asks all patrons ‘if you have the stamina and if you have the stamina to go to all of our Crop Over events, take a selfie and post it on a special link that we have. And at the end of the festival, the person who has gone to the most Crop Over events would get two tickets to a carnival destination of their choice I put my money where my mouth is. I hope you do the same,” the CEO said.
She urged those attending to work together and “let’s really and truly make this a uniquely Bajan authentic festival and the best in the Caribbean”.
Speaking with the media afterwards, Roberts-Reifer said the reception to the changes to the festival have been “largely positive”. (GBM)
