One big feting family

By CAROL MARTINDALE

Added 4th August 2018

There was no work to “fyah” on Wednesday since it was Emancipation Day and a holiday for many. Still, partygoers packed Sandwood Estate in Hothersal Turning, St Michael for the annual Fyah D Wuk Crop Over party. From early evening, many were strolling in with their coolers packed with their drinks of choice and choosing their prime positions to lime. With the blend of cool breezes and bright, blue skies, the evening was set, complementing the colourful outfits of patrons.

Still, partygoers packed Sandwood Estate in Hothersal Turning, St Michael for the annual Fyah D Wuk Crop Over party.

From early evening, many were strolling in with their coolers packed with their drinks of choice and choosing their prime positions to lime.

Crop Over songs filled the air, as DJs played some of the top tunes of the season.

It was “one big feting family” as the music took lovers of calypso on a journey that lasted until midnight.

One of the highlights of the night was when Skinny Fabulous hit the stage and the crowd moved closer, singing and dancing all the way. When he jumped into the crowd, every instruction issued was followed as those up front circled him in the mad jam.

Sweet Soca finalist Lil Rick also performed and, as usual, was a party pleaser. (CM)
