Patrons of this year’s Crop Over Festival will be able to get updates for activities hosted by the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) on an app.
NCF’s corporate communications specialist, Simone Codrington, told the media at JetBlue Bridgetown Market the app was done in partnership with the Data Processing Department.
“Susanna Rouse and Antoinette Agard, of the Data Processing Department, teamed up with the NCF to produce a festival app called Festival 246. On that app, you will be able to find out information for the rest of the season, and [it] will continue to be used across our festivals, NIFCA and so forth,” she explained.
While the app is being launched at the end of the Crop Over Festival at Bridgetown Market, Codrington noted it would continue for the rest of the season and be available on Google Play Store.
“It started out as being a Bridgetown Market app, but then we had a bigger dream which was to create a festival app. We thought it would be a good idea to be able to touch people across the world, not just in Barbados, to log in and find out stuff about the NCF and all the festivals that we put out there. Yes, you can go on our social media sites, but if you have one app where all the information is being pushed to you, we thought it would be a great idea to promote the festivals,” she said. (RA)
