Sponsorship challenges are facing Golden Soca, but the show must go on.
While stating that he valued all sponsors, promoter Peter Boyce said: “I find that one of the challenges of working on Golden Soca in contrast to other events I’ve worked on over the years, there usually is an apprehension in terms of sponsors getting on board.
“You usually find that sponsors readily get on board when it comes to the younger demographic because they see that age group as consumers of alcoholic beverages but I can assure you the older demographic also spends money, which is why we value the sponsors we have,” Boyce added.
Speaking at Sea Rocks Dome, Maxwell, Christ Church, Boyce also suggested that because of the demographic the show draws, there would be clean fun during and after the show.
“I want to emphasise that we are going to have big people music with big people behaviour. So you are not going to have anyone who is going to go to Golden Soca that is going to leave and look for a cemetery. They will all be going home. That’s the kind of good behaviour we will have,” he said.
During the event there are expected to be a number of guests who will be honoured on the night.
The show also boasts of having over 30 years’ music, with performances by The Mighty Gabby, Speedy, Bumba, Red Plastic Bag, Peter Ram, Lil Rick and Holla Bak.
The show comes off on August 11 at the Dome. (TG)
